Learning Language Fast Tip #21: Make mistakes

Live with the locals and don't be afraid to make mistakes. You may only be able to express yourself in very basic non-standard way "me sit here OK?" with a pronounced accent but it's ok! The point is you can get the point across. (pun intended!)

Generally, people will be more understanding and patient if you show a sincere effort to express yourself in their language. The less you worry about being laughed at for making mistakes or talking like a four-year-old, the more you can get past the embarrassment of not being fluent enough. Simply put, you have to assume the person behind the wheel of a car with a sign in the back that says, "STUDENT DRIVER".
