Most tourists shun Monterey for its "exclusivity" and just plain overpriced feel. While I believe this shouldn't deter budget travelers to experience the beauty of this Californian town, it's still a great idea to round up a couple ways to save money on, perhaps, golf and seafood...and shopping, what else!
Consider:
1. There are 14 golf courses in Monterey. Some are cheaper than the Pebble Beach, but just as beautiful.
2. Go to the pier for a more affordable seafood plate.
3. Take the airbus when you get to San Jose for less than the price you would pay for a direct flight ticket to the peninsula.
