What is the currency in Saint Kitts and Nevis?

St. Kitts and Nevis currency is the Eastern Caribbean dollar. That money is attached to the US dollar, with 2.7 EC dollars continually breaking even with 1 dollar US . If you do wish to acquire some local cash you can trade your own coin in Basseterre or Charlestown at one of the banks.

If you mean to ride the local buses around the island, it is useful to get some Eastern Caribbean money (coins ideally) but as a rule, if you have US dollars, practically every different business will be happy to take those rather than local cash.

Note: If you are going to take a taxi, ask first the amount it will cost, then find out whether the price cited to you is in dollars US or EC dollars -- there is a major difference!
