The area around the Alamo is one of those where you bump elbows with everybody else. It doesn't seem like a historical site until you get inside. 

Probably the most intriguing I've ever read about it was in a book called Texas Ghosts, where the presence of those who died during the battle could still be felt. Apparitions and unexplained movements were observed. But then again, I was reading that book on Halloween so it's all a state of mind. 

Come in for the history, the exhibit and learn from the tour guides. The Alamo is a symbol of Texas' fight for freedom. If you still don't know who David Crockett is, now is the time to say hello.
